Sapphire Tube

Sapphire Tubes are available in a range of sizes and can be held tighter in tolerance than metal. Stock sizes start with ID .015″ and can be made up of almost any ID and OD. Sapphire Tubes are excellent choices for feed-through applications due to material strength.

Sapphire's Mohs hardness is 9 (diamond is 10). It is the hardest material next to diamonds. Until now, it's nearly impossible to make a diamond tube as costing, difficulty processing. But COE Optics can produce a sapphire tube with OD/ID polishing to optical grade.

Comparing with traditional quartz tubes, COE Optics' sapphire tubes are the best high-pressure containers and transparent plumbing for many high-pressure systems. A sapphire tube can handle extreme pressures while allowing for safe observation and spectral analysis of fluids and gas. Sapphire tubes can be used in hostile environments to house sensitive sensors, protecting the sensors against pressure and mechanical abuse.

There are two ways to get an optical grade sapphire tube. One is the EFG sapphire tube. These tubes are grown by the EFG method directly, and COE Optics just polishes them to optical grade. Due to the EFG sapphire tube's size limitation, another way to get a sapphire tube is “traditional processing". COE Optics can drill holes by laser, ultrasonic, or CNC processing to do the appropriate sapphire tubes, to meet with your exact application.

Typical Sapphire Tube Applications: guides, insulators, flow control, spacers, sapphire cell
