Rhomboid Prisms

Rhomboid prisms are commonly used to displace a laser beam without changing its direction. In imaging applications, rhomboid prisms will displace the optical axis without inverting the image.

COE Optics can manufacture different sizes of Rhomboid prisms by sapphire, fused silica, BK7 etc. material which is from UV, visible and NIR range. Rhomboid prisms displace a light beam laterally and in effect represent a pair of single mirrors. We can supply uncoated rhomboid prisms, or coated rhomboid prisms, which to be used to increase the angular range over which the prism will work.

A Rhomboid prism is a type of reflective prism which is commonly used to displace a laser beam without changing its direction.  Effectively a Rhomboid prism acts as a pair of single mirrors and has a shape where its’ lateral displacement is equal to the length of the prism. In imaging applications, a Rhomboid prism will be used to displace the optical axis without inverting the image.
COE Optics Rhomboid Prisms feature high tolerance angles that keep the output beam parallel to the input beam to within 30 arc seconds. They are ideal for demanding displacement applications.
